Marc with P. J. O'Rourke
At unnamed monolith bookstore, Houston, Texas
October 25, 1995
P. J. O'Rourke was on the standard book tour deal, reading from Age and Guile Beat Youth, Innocence and a Bad Haircut and hopefully selling a few copies as well (hey, I bought one). He had quickly become my favorite writer the year before, one of the very few people who I found tremendously funny on the printed page (the pacing and timing in my head is usually all wrong for that sort of thing). Anyway, I complemented him on his evisceration of "We Are The World" from Give War A Chance and he repaid me by not squinting too hard when the shutter snapped.
