Day for Night Throws Some Badass Food into the Mix
Okay, so we’re hard at work on our whole set of previews/rundowns for Day for Night, which starts up tonight, Friday, December 16th, with its VIP-only kick-off party and runs through Saturday & Sunday, December 17th & 18th, but we couldn’t let this slip completely by.
I’ve got to hand it to the DFN organizers, honestly — every time I think they’ve played all their cards, they pull a brand-new one out of their collective sleeve. Only this time, it’s not music but food.
According to info we got just this morning, Day for Night’s going to now include three special pop-up dinners at the venue (401 Franklin), with limited spaces open only to folks who already hold tickets, who can purchase admission to one or more of the dinners as an add-on over here.
Each night’s dinner has a different chef behind the counter, with Chef Tyson Cole of Uchi cooking tonight (Friday), Chefs Callie & Philip Speer of not-yet-open Austin restaurants Bombshell and Bonhomie showcasing a multi-course meal on Saturday, and Chef Philippe Gaston of Izakaya doing a “light bite and cocktail event” on Sunday.
Better still, all three events are hosted by none other than H-town rap legend, scholar, and well-known foodie Bun B, which should be a pretty major enticement right there. I mean, c’mon, who wouldn’t want to hang out and have a meal with freaking Bun B?
Now for the catch: like I said, this is a limited-space deal. Do it now, because those spaces are selling out fast. Do this, y’all. Houston’s been moving these past few years towards a cool, cool intersection between the realms of food and music, and you need to be a part of it.
