Texas Takes Over NYC, Today
For our East Coast friends, I figured I’d mention a very, very cool CMJ-related thing going on today (that is, Thursday, October 23rd). Indefatigable photog-turned-promoter Mark C. Austin‘s Convoy Group is among the organizers of the third-ever Texas Takeover CMJ showcase, and damn, it sounds pretty awesome.
The whole thing’s at The Delancey, apparently, and while it’s free, you do have to RSVP for it, right over here — it starts at 3PM, so you’ll have to get a move on.
The full schedule’s over there on the right, obviously, but highlights for me personally are Austin retro-pop outfit Sphynx, who are freaking awesome live, electro-pop darlings {BLSHS}, who truly can do no wrong in SCR‘s eyes, badass psych-pop gang {Featherface}, cool, sleek-lined rockers {Catch Fever}, excellent electronic duo (I think?) {Night Drive}, Austin-based soul-rock guy Walker Lukens, politically-minded folk-punks East Cameron Folkcore, and last but absolutely not least, H-town’s own reggae/rocksteady queen & kings, {The Suffers}.
There you go, people — anybody in and around NYC, you really, really ought to go to this. Get there early, stay ’til late.
