Today: Zine Fest Houston Rides Again, Bigger & Better Than Before
Okay, that’s awesome. When Zine Fest Houston organizer guy Shane Patrick Boyle left town for the wilds of Arkansas, I’d hoped that the show would go on but was a little nervous at the back of my mind that maybe that’d be the end of ZFH as I knew it.
Happily, that’s not the case, and Zine Fest Houston 2013 is going on right now, over at what is possibly the most appropriate venue for it, The Museum of Printing History on 1324 W. Clay.
The Fest’s actually expanded this year, to boot, with talks with various artists and writers, including Houston punk historian David Ensminger (who is an amazing guy with an encyclopedic memory of all things related to punk rock in our fair city), workshops for kids, panel discussions, and raffles for cool stuff. There’s a full list of guests and exhibitors over here. Oh, and it’s all free, and since it’s indoors this year, it won’t get rained out.
Like I said, the festival’s already going on now, but it’ll run until 8PM tonight, so definitely make sure you go by, check out some awesome zines, revel in the not-yet-lost arts of all things printed, and learn new stuff from zine makers. Keep zines alive, y’all.
