Late Notice: Fitz Navidad & B.E. Godfrey, Tonight
Yep, running behind, but there’re still a couple of shows well worth checking out tonight, Thursday, December 20th, and I didn’t want to drop the ball completely, at least…
The first one’s the Fitz Navidad festival over at Fitzgerald’s, which boasts an awesome lineup of bands I freaking love, including multi-instrumental crooner {Benjamin Wesley}, bearded alternarock heroes {the last place you look}, smart/bouncy prog-pop band {Glass the Sky}, awesome psych-popsters {Featherface}, {The Sideshow Tramps}‘ frontman {Craig Kinsey}, indie-folk outfit {Poor Pilate}, & nighttime electro-pop trio {Bang Bangz}, among others.
I’m not positive, but I think the idea is that the folks involved will be playing holiday classics; no guarantee on that. Either way, $5 or 4 canned goods gets you in the door and in front of a crapload of great bands.
Oh the more low-key side, over at Mango’s there’s a cool-sounding lineup, as well, with Nick Greer, formerly(?) of {Mantis} and currently a funky, piano-playing soulster, promising-sounding Pasadena-based newcomers {Beach Bones}, singer/songwriter {Kevin Taylor Kendrick}, and — best of all to me, at least — {listenlisten} frontman B.E. Godfrey, whose solo stuff is damn near as good as the “band” stuff he does, albeit not quite as dark or murky. Again, $5 gets you in the door…
