[UPDATED!] Giveaway/Upcoming Show Time: The Manichean Releases New Album LOVERS, This Saturday (and You Could Be There!)
UPDATE: And there go those tickets; thanks to the folks who participated! If you didn’t get ’em, stay tuned; there’s more to come…
Yeah, where’re still a few days away from it, but I didn’t want to miss out on mentioning it amidst all the Thanksgiving madness…
This coming Saturday, November 24th, awesomely dramatic, utterly intense art-rockers {The Manichean} are releasing their highly-anticipated debut full-length (after a handful of EPs), LOVERS, over at Warehouse Live. And yeah, it promises to be pretty damn amazing.
The band itself is one of my favorite outfits in town right now — which is a little bit surprising to me, because I tend to avoid overly “dramatic” music in much the same way I avoid most musical theater (which, yes, The Manichean also somewhat resemble). But somehow, these folks make it work, infusing their music and performances with a level of passion and artistry that it even converts skeptics like me.
And from what I’ve heard so far, LOVERS is no different; I still need to hear the whole thing, but I’m feeling pretty confident in saying that it’s the band’s masterpiece, the best thing they’ve come up with so far. Wow.
Take a listen to “Innocence,” one of the tracks off of LOVERS, right here:
Saturday’s show promises to be a great, great experience, and not only because of the headliners. They’ve got a nice gang of people sharing the stage with ’em, notably murky, dark-tinted nighttime-pop trio {Bang Bangz}, straight-up, ridiculously catchy alt-rockers {Alkari}, and Austin electro-pop crew Mobley, all of whom I like, plus {Night Drive} and DJ-ish(?) guy {Portal Walker}, who’s incidentally done some remixes for The Manichean in days past.
The whole thing starts at 8PM, and tickets are $8 beforehand and $10 at the door, which is a darn decent price, in my book…
You might not have to worry about that, though, because SCR has a pair of tickets to give away for this show. Some lucky winner and a friend/significant other/relative will be able to take in the spectacle all for free, courtesy of our pals over at The Convoy Group.
So, if you want to grab the tickets, you need to do one of three things, depending on where you’re seeing this:
- Email us at “contests” at “spacecityrock dot com”, with the Subject line “Through kisses & cuts”.
- Comment on this here post on our Facebook page.
- Reply to this here tweet on our Twitter feed.
Whoever does one of the three above first wins the tickets. Cool? Like I said, this show’s going to be pretty great; there’s no doubt about that at all, trust me.
[…] another pair of tickets, not to Saturday night’s (November 24th) show with The Manichean (see here), but to another show that night that’s pretty […]
