Giveaway/Upcoming Show Time #2: Featherface, The Pharmacy, & Sunrise and Ammunition, All Saturday
Yep, here we are again — in honor of Thanksgiving, we here at SCR are giving away another pair of tickets, not to Saturday night’s (November 24th) show with {The Manichean} (see here), but to another show that night that’s pretty awesome…
Specifically, over at Rudyard’s Saturday night, we’ve got excellent, excellent psych-pop dudes {Featherface} headlining, preceded by retro-psych Seattleites The Pharmacy and cool local prog-rock gang {Sunrise and Ammunition}.
This is the last night of Featherface’s Fall tour through The South, so welcome ’em home — I really seriously love the way these guys marry Radiohead art-rock intelligence with hazy, melodic psych sounds, and with recent album Actual Magic, they really feel like they’ve hit their stride. You can check it out below, or alternatively, just download the whole damn thing over here:
I have yet to see The Pharmacy (who I think used to hail from New Orleans, but who call Seattle home these days), but I was able to listen to ’em when they came through town a couple of years ago as part of the SXSW Overflow Fest, and I was pretty impressed. They bear some resemblance to Featherface, mining a similar realm of woozy, fuzzed-out psych-rock lushness, and I’m liking it quite a bit.
For their part, I’ve been listening to {Sunrise and Ammunition} a lot recently, and while it’s not strictly my thing, it’s been growing on me — there’s a heavy prog/jazz influence, for sure, and the band’s a freaking insane bunch of musicians, with some seriously burly skills.
Now, for the best part: while the cover’s $7, as we mentioned above, we’ve got a pair o tickets for one lucky winner and friend/loved one to this show. The kind people at The Convoy Group have offered us the tickets, and if you want ’em, just do one of the following three things:
- Email us at “contests” at “spacecityrock dot com”, with the Subject line “I was dancing like I did not care”.
- Comment on this here post on our Facebook page.
- Reply to this here tweet on our Twitter feed.
Do it quick if you want ’em — first to respond wins. And hey, have a Happy Thanksgiving, all…
