Gallapalooza, Tomorrow: Help Amy Marie Out
And since we’re kind of on the subject of helping out good people… Tomorrow night (Wednesday, August 24th), there’s a cool, definitely worthwhile benefit show over at Warehouse Live called Gallapalooza, meant to raise money to help a longtime Warehouse employee named Amy Marie Shields be able to afford some very necessary gallbladder surgery.
I don’t know Amy personally, but I’ve definitely run into her some night at the Warehouse, it sounds like — she scans the tickets, checks IDs, run the Twitter account and FB page, and does all kinds of other stuff around the place. From everything I hear, she’s good people in need of some lifesaving help in a very short amount of time.
Photog/scene fixture Mark C. Austin has created an IndieGogo account to help raise funds, and he’s promised to match the first $1000 donated, which is massive in itself. So you can donate there or you can head on over to the show tomorrow night and chip in a measly $5. The Warehouse is reportedly putting 100% of the proceeds into the fund for Amy’s surgery.
Of course, some cool people have donated their time & talent, including the ever-cool {Tyagaraja}, paisley retro-rocker {Chase Hamblin} (both solo), new-but-already-acclaimed musician {Darrin Love}, alternarock young’uns {Mosby}, and promising dirge-metallers {Sleeping Ancient}.
Here’s the schedule:
- 8:30-9:00 — Sleeping Ancient
9:15-9:45 — Tyagaraja
10:00-10:30 — Chase Hamblin
10:45-11:15 — Darrin Love
11:30-??? — Mosby
Help spread the word, too, any way you can — you can retweet Mark A.’s tweet about the show, right here: http://twitter.com/#!/mcaphoto/status/104623489297825793. Let’s make this happen, y’all.
