Help Fight Cancer, This Evening in Pearland with The Gold Sounds
Short notice, I know, but this is a cool deal, so I wanted to mention it at least briefly… There’s a benefit show going on down south in Pearland this evening (at the Pearland Chick-fil-A, to be specific), for a guy named John Tyson, who’s been diagnosed with Stage 3 esophageal cancer, the survival rate for which is apparently pretty low.
Obviously, medical care ain’t free, and even the not-explicitly-“medical” stuff costs a ton of money (not to mention the fact that the guy’s not able to work while he’s undergoing treatment). So some kind-hearted people have started the Tyson vs. Cancer Fund to raise money for the treatment & other stuff involved.
Tonight’s benefit will have a silent auction of a bunch of neat stuff, and the Chick-fil-A’s donating 20% of any purchases with the event flier to the Fund, but of course, the best part from where I’m sitting is the musical stuff. Awesome, awesome garage-pop-rawk band {The Gold Sounds} will be playing — and if you didn’t get a chance to hear last year’s Seismic Love, really need to — along with the {Ben Donnelly Band} (the namesake of which I’m guessing is related in some way to Gold Sounds frontman Sean Donnelly & drummer Dee Donnelly).
Anyway, it’s all for a good cause; get on out and rock out while helping somebody.
