Something Fierce Record Release, Tonight at Mango’s
Yep; in case you hadn’t already seen/heard the news, awesome, awesome H-town punk trio {Something Fierce} are back on the scene again, with new full-length Don’t Be So Cruel due out April 12th on Dirtnap Recs. I’ve heard the album, and holy-hell-yes is it good.
Not what I’d expected, mind you, but really, really good, nonetheless — the band’s less full-on poppy punk this time out and more reined-in and Clash-like, at least to my ears. Look on over here for the full review, or check out three of my favorite tracks over on the band’s Bandcamp page.
And hey, like the meta-flyer over there on the right says, yes, the band will indeed be playing, er, tonight (Fri., April 1st) up at Mango’s. It promises to be pretty ridiculously great, esp. with all the new music (although I dearly hope they play “Teenage Ruins,” even still).
Plus, they’re sharing the bill with several other cool folks, namely {Fat Tony}, {Wicked Poseur}, & College Station’s The Hangouts. Come on out — the first 50 people in the door get in free…
