Last-Minute Show + Some Bad News: Resonant Interval, Right Now
Argh. Spent the day mostly blissfully disconnected from all things Internet-like, so I’m only seeing this now… Turns out that there’s a surprise Resonant Interval Sound Series show tonight up at the group’s new space, which is yet another currently-unused retail area in the Mekong Center building (2808 Milam). They’re calling it “The Exoskeleton,” which seems fitting after the demise of “The Husk” to make way for a place that sells that weird-ass bubble tea stuff.
Anyway, this week features performers Paul Connolly, who’s doing some kind of piece inspired by the film Crash (not the meditation-on-racism film with Sandra Bullock, mind you, but the David Cronenberg film based on the excellently oddball, disturbing J.G. Ballard novel of the same name; I can’t speak for the movie, but I read the book a few years back, and it’s pretty fascinating) with violist Aaron Bielish, and Ryan Edwards, who’s playing solo guitar and singing.
The bad news (well, Part 1 of it, anyway) is that the show’s already going on, having started at 7:45PM. Get on over, pay your $5, and catch what you can of it, because sadly, the Sound Series will be ending at the end of July.
Segue to Bad News, Part 2: Main man Lance Higdon (who also plays in Golden Cities, Tambersauro, Wall With One Side, Whatabreaker, and about another dozen bands I can’t remember) got a can’t-miss offer over in Atlanta, GA., and will be leaving H-town for, um, similarly warm & humid climes. We’ll miss you, man — you do good things.
