Update: Buxton + Ghost Mountain + Diagonals (All Tonight!) + Handsome Furs + Tiny Masters of Today + More
Got some cool new reviews up, some just in time for the weekned-ness. There’s a review of the really new 7″ from countrified indie-popsters Buxton, which’ll be released at a cool-ass show tonight at Mango’s — I’ve been digging the hell out of A-side “Feathers”, in particular, but both sides are darn good. Full review up here.
They’re playing with not only much-beloved H-town indie-pop icons The Wild Moccasins, but also Ghost Mountain, whom I found out about thanks to Adam over at Dryvetyme Onlyne and who do this crazy melding of psychedelic rock, nerdy hip-hop, and bizarro electronics that works, against all odds, and works well — read the full review here.
Plus, tonight at Super Happy Fun Land is also Night #2 of the Monofonus Summer Slammer, a statewide set of shows put on by the good folks at Austin-based Monofonus Press to showcase their hometown bands to Houston/Dallas/etc. audiences and vice-versa. It sounds like it’s going to be good, with not only cool Monofonites like Pillow Queens & Diagonals, but also excellent locals Muhammadali & promising-sounding folks like Slow Motion Rider.
And hey, we’ve got a review up of the new Diagonals up, too, courtesy of writer Dre Giles — see the full thing here.
Of course, that’s not all we’ve got right now; there’s also reviews of the new Tiny Masters of Today, The Antlers, & Handsome Furs, plus a couple more. Full list time:
Reviews: Buxton; Diagonals; Ghost Mountain; Tiny Masters of Today; The Antlers; Handsome Furs; Audiocrash; & Treasure Mammal.
