The Rundown, Pt. 2: Orange Show Raises Some Foam [9/05/2008 04:32:00 PM]:
Aaaaaaaaand...if you're not gonna be at
Cactus tomorrow (again,
Saturday, September 6th) but you still like A) good music and B) free beer, with the added benefit of C) good causes, you should head on over to
The Orange Show for their
Foam Raiser party in partnership with -- wait for it --
St. Arnold's! Those guys
do get around, it seems...
Hell, it runs from 7-10PM, so you could even check out the Mia Kat Day thing @ Cactus and hustle on down to the Orange Show after. And it's a cool-sounding deal, so the twofer's definitely worth it. It's a benefit for the Orange Show's concert series, which I think all can agree is a very worthy cause, and besides, there'll be performances by fun local people Sideshow Tramps & The Grass Skirts (the latter of whom I don't know, but they reportedly play "Polynesian pop," which sounds cool by me).
The downside is, uh, it ain't cheap. Tickets are $20 beforehand (go here to buy 'em in advance) or $25 at the door, which is a mite steep for me, but it is a benefit gig, after all, and that $$$$ gets you unlimited access to Houston's own hometown brew, of all varieties.
Oh, and the Orange Show's also hosting some odd film thing presented by the Aurora Picture Show called Clowns Never Lie. While the title's patently untrue (I had a bad experience once as a child with a clown and a balloon), the idea sounds pretty neat -- the presenter, Skip Elsheimer of A/V Geeks, has collected a bunch of well-intentioned-yet-horrifying training/educational films and mashed them together somehow. (I think.)
Hopefully there are no actual clowns involved, because frankly, they're fucking evil. Really.
